Comportamiento de las corrientes de agua fría y caliente

En un estanque en reposo, sin viento ni nada que lo agite, vamos a observar el movimiento del agua a causa de tener zonas de agua a distinta temperatura.  

Se introduce en una pecera llena de agua a temperatura ambiente un recipiente con hielo y un pigmento azul (foco frío) y otro, con agua caliente y pigmento rojo (foco caliente).

Podemos observar gracias a los pigmentos, el movimiento del agua fría (azul) como empuja al agua caliente (rojo) hacia arriba.

Con el tiempo el agua caliente (rojo) se queda en la superficie y el agua fría (azul) cae al fondo.

Finalmente, cuando la temperatura del agua es la misma en toda la pecera ya no hay corrientes, y el agua deja de moverse.
